GMC Sports Report – Week of 30 January

GMC 20 vs. El Monte 39

On 24 January, GMC suffered their 1st loss in league play this week.  The game began with a fast break by GMC, but El Monte came back.  Although we lost our game the team continued to play tough until the very end.  The leading scorers were Christian Parker – 8 points, Andreas Palomo – 5 points, David Hernandez – 4 points and Jack Rosa – 3 points.  The varsity team’s defense and offense also played well.  Each player contributed to the game.

GMC 53 vs. CVC 30

On 26 January, GMC finished the week with a HUGE win over the CVC Cavaliers.  GMC began the game with intensity and determination to score early.  The varsity team played with serious momentum throughout the game.  Jack Rosa, Christian Parker, Andreas Palomo, John Drobot, Anthony McGowen, Justin Blanco, and Mathew Nudson led the team offensively.  They each scored to help their team gain a lead that CVC could not beat.  The strong defense was led by Brandon Peck, David Hernandez, Jake Applegate and Christian Guillien.  The varsity team continues to play well and most importantly, plays as a TEAM!!  Great job GMC.  You are now 3-1.

Congratulations to Andreas Palomo and Percy Roberts who fought through 10 rounds to become our alternates.  It was an exciting and nail-biting event for all.  Congratulations to all 31 contestants in grades 5-8 who worked hard at the competition as well.

If you see Bridget or Nick around school, quiz them with a word to spell.   They need lots of practice before the February 22nd County competition.

All-School Bingo

This event took place last week as a fun end to our Catholic School’s Week!  It was a lot of fun and the big buddies did a great job in helping their little buddies with their bingo cards.  Kudos to the student council who helped with the bingo set up, checked the bingo cards, and helped clean up.

You are TERRIFIC!

Principal Thoughts

Please remember that we are in the winter flu season.  We are using hand sanitizer in the classrooms and wiping down the desks as often as possible to keep the spread of colds/flu to a minimum.

If your child comes down with a fever, please remember to keep them home until they are free of the fever for 24 hours.  Thank you for your help in keeping us as healthy as possible.
