Students in Grades 6-8 may also wear the gray kit short-sleeved collared shirt with the George McCann logos.  Blouses and shirts must be tucked in during class, assembly and church times (not necessarily during recesses and PE times).

Special Attire:
Students wear physical education uniforms (shorts, shirt & sweats) as designated only at Midtown Sports for Grades 3-8. Identical styles and colors of sweats without the school logos, may be worn. On game days, students who are team members may wear their team uniform top, provided it is clean and in good condition, along with the regular school uniform.

On meeting days, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire Boys and Girls, etc, may wear their organization’s uniform.

Free Dress:
Free Dress is a privilege. Students who abuse the privilege will lose it for the entire school year. Free dress may be worn on designated days and students are excused from wearing the school uniform on these days. Clothing must be neat, clean and in good taste (e.g. not tight fitting clothes or short shorts, bare midriffs, tank tops) and contains no references to inappropriate messages. Neat jeans (neither torn, faded, or too tight or too loose) are permitted on free dress days.

Theme Dress:
The student council, with the principal’s approval, may organize certain “theme dress” days (e.g. beachwear day, country western day, etc). Students will be expected to comply with directives given to them at school and /or through the weekly newsletters. Students may choose not to participate and will then wear their regular school uniform.

Picture Day/Photos:
Attire for school class and individual photos is the school uniform. Families will be notified or specifics before the photo sessions.

Dress Code Notice:
Should a student come to school dressed in a manner that is not in compliance with the above dress code, a written warning will be sent home with the student to be signed by the parent and returned to the school. If a student receives three dress code notices in a month the student will have ½ detention. If the principal deems it necessary a parent may be contacted by phone, and the student may be removed from the class until the child is properly attired. Continued noncompliance may result in disciplinary action. In cases of extreme violation, the parent will be contacted immediately for corrective measures. Since it is not possible to cover all possibilities concerning dress code and appropriate appearance, the principal’s decision shall become policy when a decision needs to be made.
