UNIFORM DRESS CODE

Students are expected to wear the school uniform, be clean and well-groomed and wear neat and clean clothing which fits properly. We would like the students to represent George McCann well in our community. Uniforms purchased from other vendors than the official school uniform provider must be virtually identical in color and style. All clothes should be labeled with student’s names or initials.

For Boys:

• Dennis Navy blue cords or navy blue twill (cotton/poly blend) slacks (no elastic at the bottom nor too loose or too baggy).
• All white or Navycollared shirt (only GMC logo permissible) or white turtleneck shirt (shirts can be short or long-sleeved).
• Navy blue V-neck pullover sweater or navy blue cardigan sweater or a navy blue or gray sweatshirt.
• Solid navy blue or white socks (which cover the ankle).
• Dennis Navy blue solid colored twill, cotton/poly blend, walking shorts.
• (No logos or designs except George McCann).

For Girls:

• All white or Navy collared shirt (only GMC logo permissible) or white oxford cloth blouse button-down collar or white  turtleneck shirt (blouses can be short-or-long-sleeved).
• Navy blue V-neck pullover sweater or navy blue cardigan sweater or a navy blue or gray sweat shirt.
• Grades K-4 uniform jumper (should be no more than 4 in. above the top of the knee).
• Grades 5-8 uniform culottes (should be no more than 4 in. above the top of the knee).
• Dennis Navy blue cords or navy blue twill (cotton/poly blend) slacks (no elastic at bottom), or navy blue twill (cotton/poly blend) capris.
• Dennis Navy blue solid colored twill, cotton/poly blend, walking shorts (should be no more than 4 in. above the top of the knee) and (may be cuffed or straight).
• Solid navy blue or white socks (which cover the ankle) or Navy blue or white knee-hi or opaque style tights or socks (No logos or designs except George McCann).

Outerwear (Boys and Girls) :

Students are allowed to wear the official George McCann sweatshirt with the school logo. All other sweatshirts and sweaters must follow the aforementioned guidelines. Jackets may only be worn outside the classroom, particularly during colder weather. All other sweatshirts are not permitted and are not regarded as jackets.

Dress Code Notice:
Should a student come to school dressed in a manner that is not in compliance with the above dress code, a written warning will be sent home with the student to be signed by the parent and returned to the school. If a student receives three dress code notices in a month the student will have ½ detention. If the principal deems it necessary a parent may be contacted by phone, and the student may be removed from the class until the child is properly attired. Continued noncompliance may result in disciplinary action. In cases of extreme violation, the parent will be contacted immediately for corrective measures. Since it is not possible to cover all possibilities concerning dress code and appropriate appearance, the principal’s decision shall become policy when a decision needs to be made.
